WORKSHOP
Architectural Design + Remodeling
220-221Workshop is creating & improving the built
environment through design, planning and implementation.
What is 220-221Workshop?
220-221Workshop is an architectural design firm interested in all types of projects and primarily focused on residential remodeling, additions and ground-up construction. This means that we can help you with everything from organizing your ideas through obtaining permits all the way to the day of construction completion. If you are considering overseeing your own small remodeling project, we also offer a range of support, partnering with you in managing the construction.
If you are thinking about:
How your existing home could better fit your needs
Buying a new home and brainstorming its potential
Adding on to your home, but not sure if you can or if it makes financial sense
Purchasing a piece of land and wondering if it's a good fit for the home you want to build
Or even if you just need a referral for a guy to do a thing
That's what we do - we can probably help!
Building relationships is the key to our process. We want to get to know you, what you like, what you don't and how you envision using the spaces we create. We have also been building relationships with contractors, engineers and artisans who we can partner with to bring our ideas and designs to reality.

New Local Microbrewery
We are really excited to be a part of this new business and gathering spot in Fountain Hills. Check back for more photos and grand opening information!
Mountain Cabin Garage & Covered Deck Addition
We've had the privilege to work up North on a few projects, most recently a detached garage and covered deck addition. We love the chance to work in the tall pines with its different constraints (snow load?!?).
Garage & Casita Remodel

When you have great cars, you should have a great space for them. While we're at it, how about a bar and area for a pool table, too!
The Story Behind
220-221Workshop
Nick Sehman - Founder
The idea of 220-221Workshop began in the tough times of the recession.
I'd been working in architecture for a while when it hit and I found myself
questioning if this was a sustainable path. Watching the movie Mr. Mom,
in a similar predicament, we decided to follow a line of its sage wisdom:
"220-221... whatever it takes."
In 2013 the Workshop opened for business offering architectural design services for residential remodels and additions. In the spirit of "whatever it takes," we soon saw an opportunity, on certain projects to help homeowners manage their own remodel. These projects have proven to be a lot of hard work for everyone, with a steep learning curve, but some of the most rewarding work I've been a part of. This active role in construction has allowed me to forge relationships with contractors and to get my hands dirty out on-site. (The latter many times resulting in the former making fun of me!) I usually let the pro's do what they are experts at, but I've found being out there helps me to design better when I get back to the office.
If you have a project you'd like to discuss, if you are a builder or craftsperson who'd like to partner or if you are a designer who might like to join the workshop - let's talk!

HOUSE TO HOUSE
1MISSION is a community development organization giving people in poverty the opportunity to earn a house by serving their community. Through our partnership, we've committed to donating a portion of our proceeds from each project on my client's behalf, getting a family in poverty one step closer to owning a house they have earned.
